Il Bottaccio is a charming relais which was originally an ancient olive-mill dating back to the 17th century located in Montignoso, a small built-up area in the heart of Versilia, situated between Massa and Pietrasanta, right at the foot of the Apuan Alps and a few kilometres from both the sea and the golf courses. The olive-mill has been exceptionally restored by its owners at the beginning of the 1980s as they wished to turn it into a guesthouse for gourmet travellers with aristocratic tastes. Special care and attention has been paid to the restoration, the furnishings are particularly luxurious and these make Il Bottaccio an unforgettable place to spend your timeless holiday. From the entrance hall, furnished with splendid original furniture, armchairs and a fireplace, as well as with some original sculptures, you can reach the restaurant. The restaurant has at its centre a swimming pool which is illuminated during the summer evenings and decorated with lotus leaves during winter evenings giving the entire room a magical and extremely suggestive atmosphere. The Il Bottaccio restaurant and Montignoso Relais is the forerunner of a successful formula of contamination between art and haute cuisine. Therefore it is impossible for the fortunate guests of this relais to distinguish between their two souls.
The cuisine offered to guests at Il Bottaccio is as refined and original as you could hope to find. We are located in an area of great gastronomic appeal, between a generous countryside, the sea and the Apuan Alps; the cuisine served at the Il Bottaccio restaurant is a well-balanced combination of seaside fragrances and the flavours of both the woods and the mountains.

The rooms
The setting and atmosphere of each suite is different, yet all of them are in perfect harmony with the hotel's environment and they truly give you a holiday in the pursuit of originality and luxury. The Royal Suite is, without doubt, the favourite of many guests as its ancient millstones used for the production of oil have been skilfully preserved. An enormous two-metre diameter bathtub has been created from one of the tanks. An 18th century Florentine fireplace, ceramic floorings as well as wooden beam ceilings contribute to creating a cosy atmosphere, together with the modern or vintage furniture, yet both of which are, in any case, unique in their environment. The bathroom is covered with Vietri ceramics, one wall is entirely mirrored and in a small loft you can find a private mini-gym and, as from the forthcoming season, there should also be a mini spa.
The Hotel has 8 suites, all of which are extremely spacious, very beautiful, different from each other and they furnished with taste and elegance.
