The Grotta Giusti Natural Spa Resort, member of the prestigious "Small Luxury Hotels of the World", is located in Monsummano Terme just a few miles from Florence, Pisa and Lucca. The story goes that, in 1849, workers on the Giusti estate accidentally discovered hot steam coming out of the earth. They opened up the tiny openings and were astounded upon finding a secret grotto. Even today, people are still fascinated by the grotto's extraordinary setting of stalactites and stalagmites, the sight of mysterious distorted shadows projected onto the cavern walls and its warm temperatures of 35°C (95°F), all of which make for, at the same time as toxins and all traces of stress are being eliminated, a truly different and enjoyable visit.
In addition to this natural body of water, there is also an outdoor thermal swimming pool, a sparkling expanse of water crystal measuring 750 m2 (around 2460 sq. ft.), with a scenic waterfall and high-power underwater jets where you can just sit back, relax and enjoy a small corner of paradise.
The thermal spa and wellness centre is divided up into large specialty areas proposing many different treatments which include traditional massages, mud baths, respiratory therapies, a new area specializing in oriental techniques, a fully equipped fitness centre, many lounges for relaxation, and a centre for cosmetic and skincare treatments.
