Punta Ala Golf Course was founded in the spring of 1964. Overlooking the  sea, this splendid 18 holes course is surrounded by an impressive array  of trees outlining the many natural slopes: a dense vegetation of  evergreens, such as imposing and influential pine, maritime pine, oak  and holm-oak trees that are important as they often come into play. The  wind is also an important factor that influences golfing tactics. From  every hole the panorama opens out to the sea below offering  extraordinary views. In the Club-house there is a good restaurant with  traditional Italian cooking and typical dishes of the local Maremma  cuisine. Thanks to the sea and a very mild climate, at Punta Ala Golf  Course it is possible to play all year around and the Club organizes a  lot of competitions, especially during summer period. Punta Ala is not  only famous for golfing but also for polo and sailing and it is a site  of important International events. Near Punta Ala there are historical  and archaeological places of great interest such as the wonderful  medieval village of Castiglione della Pescaia, Massa Marittima,  Vetulonia, Populonia, the Uccellina Park. From the coast can be easily  reached the islands of Montecristo, Giannutri and Elba, the greatest and  most important islands of the Tuscan Archipelago .
